$$^{rm 99m}$$Tc, which is a daughter nuclide of $$^{99}$$Mo, is used worldwide for medical imaging. However, there is a problem with the supply of $$^{rm 99m}$$Tc ($$^{99}$$Mo) due to the replacement of aging reactors. A method to produce $$^{rm 99m}$$Tc by irradiating $$^{100}$$Mo with protons using medical cyclotrons has been proposed. In this study, we presented a method to determine individual excitation functions for Mo($$p,x$$)Tc using measured excitation functions for $$^{nat}$$Mo($$p,x$$)Tc. The method was validated by comparing estimated radionuclide purities of $$^{rm 99m}$$Tc in enriched $$^{100}$$Mo samples using the determined excitation functions with measured ones. In this study, we found that the content of $$^{97}$$Mo, $$^{96}$$Mo, and $$^{95}$$Mo should be low in order to produce $$^{rm 99m}$$Tc with high radionuclide purity. The results of this study play an important role in discussion of the required Mo compositions in enriched $$^{100}$$Mo, taking into account the constraints of each facility.

We systematically investigate the absorption effects on the cross sections of the nucleon and alpha knockout reactions. To do this, we calculate the ratio of the cross sections of the distorted-wave impulse approximation and plane-wave impulse approximation and examine its dependence on the mass number and single-particle orbital of the knocked-out particles.

Topological electromagnetism owing to nontrivial momentum-space topology of electrons in insulators gives rise to diverse anomalous magnetoelectric responses. While conventional inductors and capacitors are based on classical electromagnetism described by Maxwell's equations, here we show that topological electromagnetism in combination with spin dynamics in magnets also generates an inductance or a capacitance. We build a generic framework to extract the complex impedance on the basis of topological field theory, and demonstrate the emergence of an inductance or a capacitance in several heterostructure setups. In comparison with the previously-studied emergent inductances in metallic magnets, insulators highly suppress the power loss, because of the absence of Joule heating. We show that the inductance from topological electromagnetism is achieved at low current and high frequency, and is also advantageous in its power efficiency, as characterized by the high quality factor (Q-factor).

We investigate the physical properties of a single crystal of uranium telluride U$$_{7}$$Te$$_{12}$$. We have confirmed that U$$_{7}$$Te$$_{12}$$ crystallizes in the hexagonal structure with three nonequivalent crystallographic uranium sites. The paramagnetic moments are estimated to be approximately 1 $$mu_{B}$$ per the uranium site, assuming a uniform moment on all the sites. A ferromagnetic phase transition occurs at $$T_{rm C}$$= 48 K, where the in-plane magnetization increases sharply, whereas the out of-plane component does not increase significantly. With decreasing temperature further below $$T_{rm C}$$ under field-cooling conditions, the out-of-plane component increases rapidly around T$$^{star}$$= 26 K. In contrast, the in-plane component hardly changes at T$$^{star}$$. Specific heat measurement indicates no $$lambda$$-type anomaly around T$$^{star}$$, so this is a cross-over suggesting a reorientation of the ordering moments or successive magnetic ordering on the part of the multiple uranium sites.

We investigate magnetic orderings on kagome lattice numerically from the tight-binding Hamiltonian of electrons, governed by the filling factor and spin-orbit coupling (SOC) of electrons. We find that even a simple kagome lattice model can host both ferromagnetic and noncollinear antiferromagnetic orderings depending on the electron filling, reflecting gap structures in the Dirac and flat bands characteristic to the kagome lattice. Kane-Mele- or Rashba-type SOC tends to stabilize noncollinear orderings, such a magnetic spirals and 120-degree antiferromagnetic orderings, due to the effective Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction from SOC. The obtained phase structure helps qualitative understanding of magnetic orderings in various kagome-layered materials with Weyl or Dirac electrons.
